OSCOUR National Newsletter, June 14, 2016

Summary

  • Visits and hospitalizations are on the rise across all age groups, particularly among children under 15. Hospitalizations among adults aged 75 and older remain stable.

  • The most common conditions are on the rise among children, particularly ENT infections, isolated fever, and allergies. Among adults, there has been an increase in visits related to alcohol consumption, though this does not differ from previous years during the same period.

  • Emergency room visits and hospitalizations for asthma are also on the rise across all age groups and are linked to grass pollen counts as well as weather events (particularly thunderstorms) concentrated mainly in Nord-Pas de Calais-Picardie, Rhône-Alpes, and Lorraine.

  • Seasonal conditions such as viral meningitis and bites and contact with venomous animals are on the rise, though within expected ranges.
