Summary

  • Emergency room visits and hospitalizations for all causes are on the rise among children under 15 and on the decline among adults aged 15 and older.

  • Among children under 15, emergency department visits are rising for all seasonal illnesses except for the flu, which remains stable at a high level. These increases are most pronounced for respiratory conditions, particularly asthma (+28% in visits and +23% in hospitalizations). Note a slight uptick in bronchiolitis among children under 2 years of age (+6% in visits and +13% in hospitalizations)

  • Among adults over 15 years of age, all seasonal indicators are stable or declining, with a more pronounced decrease among adults over 75 years of age for influenza (-26%), gastroenteritis (-25%), bronchitis (-22%), and pneumonia (-20%).

  • Regarding activity rates, only the influenza activity rate among those over 75 is higher than in the previous two years. For all other conditions and all age groups, rates are comparable to those of the previous two years.
