Summary

In Week 8 (February 18–24, 2019), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following visits remained stable among adults and declined among children (by 9% and 6%, respectively) for the second consecutive week.

Activity related to seasonal indicators is down across all age groups. Visits for influenza/flu-like illness across all age groups have been declining for two weeks (following a peak in Week 6); this decrease was more pronounced in Week 8 (-33%, or 4,422 fewer visits).

Among children under 2 years of age, there has been an increase in visits for vomiting (+17%, or +99 visits), gastroenteritis (+6%, or +171 visits), pneumonia (+11%, or +27 visits), and trauma (+10%, or +201 visits).
