Summary

In Week 06 (February 3–9, 2020), overall activity and hospitalizations following emergency department visits remained stable across all age groups.

Over the past week, visits for influenza and influenza-like illness increased among children (+9%, or +443 visits) and people aged 75 and older (+11%, or +28 visits). There was also an increase in visits for pneumonia (+11%, or +90 visits) among children.

The proportion of influenza and influenza-like illness cases among all coded cases is lower than in the previous two years. All metropolitan regions and the Antilles are in the epidemic phase. In the Indian Ocean, the epidemic has ended in Réunion, while in Mayotte the proportion of emergency department visits for influenza and influenza-like illness has been steadily increasing since Week 3 (January 13–18, 2020).

Other seasonal and non-specific indicators are stable or declining, with the exception of: trauma (+6%, or +116 visits), general malaise (+5%, or +39 visits) among children, and conjunctivitis (+5%, or +33 visits) among adults.
