Key Points
In Week 48 (November 27–December 3, 2023), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following such visits remained stable across all age groups compared to the previous week.
Among those under 15, seasonal respiratory indicators are on the rise compared to the previous week. At levels far higher than in previous years, pneumonia cases continue to rise (+25%). Suspected COVID-19 infections (+19%) and influenza/flu-like illness (+15%) are increasing at levels comparable to previous years.
Bronchiolitis among children under one year of age is rising moderately (+6%).
Among adults, compared to the previous week, pneumonia cases (+16%) continue to rise, exceeding levels seen in previous years. Suspected COVID-19 infections (+24%), influenza/flu-like illness (+43%), and acute bronchitis (+15%) are also on the rise.
Among those over 75, there has been an increase in visits for vomiting (+11%), isolated fever (+8%), and asthma (+21%).
Suicidal attempts among those under 15 are down (-10%) but remain at levels higher than in previous years.
