Summary
During week 48 (November 27–December 3, 2017), overall activity decreased slightly (-4%), and post-visit hospitalizations remained stable across all age groups, with the exception of children under 2 years of age, for whom a slight increase in activity was observed (+2% and +630 visits, +6% and +268 hospitalizations).
For seasonal conditions, the following are noted: - Among children, an increase in visits for gastroenteritis (+12%, +343 visits) and, to a lesser extent, for allergies (+13%, +84 visits) and conjunctivitis (+9%, +31 visits). Among children under 2 years of age, there was also a slight increase in visits for bronchiolitis compared to the previous week (+5%, +174 visits versus +45%, +1,187 visits). However, the trend remains comparable to that of the previous two years. - Among adults, visits are on the rise for ENT conditions (+7%, +204 visits) and acute bronchitis (+13%, +147 visits).
Among the most common conditions, excluding seasonal illnesses, there was an increase in visits for pneumonia (6%, +49 visits) among children. Nearly all common conditions among adults remained stable or decreased.
