Summary
In Week 15 (April 8–14, 2019), emergency department visits and hospitalizations following visits remained stable compared to the previous week across all age groups, except among children aged 2–14, where the decline observed in Week 14 continued (-10%, or -6,851 visits).
Over the past week, there was an increase in visits for chickenpox (+9%, or +45 visits) among children and adults aged 15 to 74. Among those under 15, a notable decrease in visits was observed for general malaise (-19%, or -127 visits), asthma (-17%, or -301 visits), and dehydration (-10%, or -49 visits). Among adults aged 15 to 74, there was a decrease in emergency department visits for asthma (-35%, or -482 visits). Visits for viral meningitis decreased among those aged 15–74 (16 visits in Week 15 compared to 23 in Week 14) and remained stable in other age groups.
Finally, among children under 2 years of age, the most common conditions include an increase in visits for ENT infections (+8%, or +280 visits), trauma (+11%, or +242 visits), and, to a lesser extent, urinary tract infections (+7%, or +18 visits).
