Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, April 21, 2015.
Summary
During the first two weeks of April, mortality recorded at the civil registry offices participating in the surveillance program (accounting for 70% of national mortality) tended to return to normal fluctuations, with figures remaining high but close to expected values, both across all ages and by age group (Figures 1 through 4).Over the first 14 weeks of 2015, winter mortality was 14% higher than the expected mortality calculated based on the previous 8 years, representing an estimated excess of 15,120 deaths. This estimate should be interpreted with caution, as data for the most recent weeks are not yet fully consolidated due to transmission delays.Electronic-certified mortality continued to stabilize during week 16 (April 13–19, 2015), with 671 deaths certified electronically.
