Sex Education: From a Narrow View to a Broader Approach to Young People’s Sexuality

Sexuality education, as a key component of health policies, is now approached through the principles set forth in the Declaration of Helsinki, which aims to integrate health into "all policies." The goal is to make it an issue that no longer concerns only those involved in sexual health or the school system, but everyone who works with young people. Sexuality education is defined in light of a broad understanding of the concept of sexuality. This comprehensive approach is based not only on preventing the risks generally associated with sexuality, but also on its positive aspects: a source of pleasure and satisfaction that enables the harmonious development of individuals.
