Moving Beyond the Term "Sexuality" [Interview].

Organizing sex education classes in elementary, middle, or high school is no easy task. The obstacles that arise are of various kinds. On the one hand, schools are overburdened with numerous obligations related to citizenship education, media literacy, first aid, and so on. On the other hand, some reluctance stems from the social and cultural conditioning of adults: not everyone shares the same view of sexuality. The use of the word "sexuality" seems to act as a red flag for some members of the broader educational community. It would be in everyone’s best interest to find a way to ease tensions by instead advocating for education on emotional, social, and intimate relationships tailored to the different stages of schooling.
