Effective sex education programs are still too rare
In France, there is no officially approved program for "comprehensive sexuality education," as defined by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). However, a few initiatives focused on specific themes have begun an evaluation process in France. Within the framework of sexuality education programs, evaluation focuses as much as possible on changes in behavior, although interim assessments targeting knowledge and attitudes may also be conducted. However, assessing behavioral changes—which requires a long-term approach to track beneficiary populations—remains difficult to carry out effectively. When the effectiveness of an initiative is demonstrated by conclusive results, large-scale implementation can then be considered. This is essential groundwork for moving from a sexuality education approach centered on risk prevention to a comprehensive approach.
