Trends in Multidrug-Resistant Salmonella Typhimurium Infections in Norway

This article describes trends in multidrug-resistant Salmonella Typhimurium isolated from humans between 1998 and 2000. The first case occurred in Norway. Most of the multidrug-resistant S. Typhimurium infections acquired in Norway were caused by lysotype DT104. An increase in primary and secondary infections is to be expected if lysotypes such as DT104 with the ACSSuT phenotype become endemic.
