Vaccination in Corsica. Public Health Bulletin, April 2023.
Key Points
Relatively high vaccination coverage among infants born in 2018 or later, who are subject to the expanded vaccination mandate, but still below the 95% target:
hexavalent vaccine at 21 months: 91% (equivalent to the national level);
pneumococcal vaccine at 21 months: 91% (equivalent to the national level);
Second dose of the MMR vaccine at 33 months: 82% (-4 percentage points compared to the national average);
Meningococcal C vaccine at 21 months: 87% (4 percentage points below the national level).
Vaccination coverage of at least one dose against meningococcal B at 8 months is 48% (49% nationally).
Significant increase between 2015 and 2022 for the meningococcal C vaccine in children over 2 years of age, but insufficient to achieve herd immunity.
HPV vaccination coverage is low and below the national level for both girls and boys:
young girls: 41% at age 15 (1 dose) and 30% at age 16 (2 doses) (7 and 11 percentage points below the national level, respectively);
young boys: 6% at age 15 (1 dose) and 4% at age 16 (2 doses) (12 and 4 percentage points below the national level, respectively).
Insufficient influenza vaccination coverage among individuals with risk factors for influenza (46%, compared to the target of 75%).
Overall, although vaccination coverage is increasing in Corsica, it remains lower than the national average.
