Public Health Monitoring in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region. Bulletin of June 18, 2025.
Key Points
Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
The first locally transmitted case of chikungunya has been identified in the Var department, in the town of La Crau. The early onset of this outbreak confirms the very high risk of numerous areas of local chikungunya transmission in 2025 in the region and more broadly across France.
Since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1), 90 imported cases (+17 since the last update) have been identified in the region: 46 cases of chikungunya, 43 cases of dengue, and 1 case of Zika.
Measles
Measles transmission accelerated further in May: 29 cases began showing symptoms in May, bringing the total number of measles cases since the start of the year to 97. Transmission in 2025 is significantly higher than in 2024. Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of cases were under-vaccinated.
Heatwave
Rising temperatures. No heat wave currently underway.
Activity of emergency services and SOS Médecins associations increased in S24 to a level typical for this time of year.
Pollen
In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, the pollen index, established by Atmo France and accredited air quality monitoring associations, is at a high level, primarily due to grass pollen.
Allergy-related activity at SOS Médecins associations is decreasing.
Fire at a waste treatment facility
An analysis of short-term health effects in emergency care was conducted.
