Health Monitoring in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region. Bulletin of October 15, 2025.
Key Points
Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika
More than 400 locally transmitted cases of chikungunya in the region
Since the last bulletin, two new episodes of local transmission of chikungunya have been identified: one in the Alpes-Maritimes and one in the Bouches-du-Rhône.
In mainland France, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) region is by far the most affected by local chikungunya transmission, with a total of 34 local transmission outbreaks and 419 cases linked to these outbreaks (+24 since the last update).
Four dengue outbreaks involving a total of 15 cases have also been identified. For the first time in weeks, the number of new cases identified, while still significant, is clearly declining.
West Nile Virus Infections
In 2025, the Paca region recorded 28 human cases of WNV infection (+2 since the last update, one in the Var and one in the Vaucluse).
Asthma at the Start of the School Year
In week 41, asthma activity among children under 15 at SOS Médecins clinics is down. In emergency departments, activity remains stable. Given that indicator levels and trends are similar to previous years, this update is the last of the season.
Acute respiratory infections
Flu and flu-like syndromes: activity is declining to a low level.
Bronchiolitis (under 1 year): activity is on the rise.
COVID-19: activity slightly down.
Mortality
No excess mortality observed.
