Epidemiological Surveillance in the Pays de la Loire Region. Update as of May 7, 2021.

COVID-19
In the Pays de la Loire region, a decrease in SARS-CoV-2 transmission indicators was observed in Week 17; however, they remained at consistently high levels. The trend for other epidemiological indicators was also downward in Week 17 (clusters and outbreaks reported in the ESMS, emergency room visits, and calls to SOS Médecins). Nevertheless, the epidemic’s impact on hospital care remained significant across all departments, with persistently high levels of new hospitalizations and critical care admissions in Week 17, despite varying trends among departments.
Gastroenteritis
Emergency department visits for gastroenteritis remained stable in Week 17, while a marked increase was observed in SOS Médecins calls for gastroenteritis among children under 5 years of age.
Bronchiolitis
Post-epidemic phase of bronchiolitis among children under two years of age in the Pays de la Loire region. A sharp decrease in SOS Médecins calls for bronchiolitis in week 17 and a continued decline in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis observed over the past three weeks. Second consecutive week of declining RSV isolations among hospitalized patients in week 17.
