Surveillance of occupational diseases in Occitanie: Results for the first two weeks of 2024

Occupational diseases (ODs) are defined by law as any illness (or symptom) related to work that has not been recognized as an occupational disease by the social security systems at the time of the visit. The ODs program is implemented by Santé publique France in partnership with the DRÉETS Occitanie and the CREAI-ORS Occitanie. It relies on a network of volunteer occupational physicians and their teams who, over two consecutive weeks known as “MCP Fortnights,” report all cases of MCP observed during consultations, as well as the socio-professional characteristics of all employees seen, on a confidential basis. In 2024, Occitanie participated in the program as a pilot region for testing a new data collection system, featuring a module directly integrated into occupational physicians’ practice software. This module enables, on the one hand, the automated extraction of data relevant to the MCP program that is already present in the software, and on the other hand, the entry of specific data. Due to this specific feature, only certain inter-company services and one independent service were able to be invited to participate in the program. In 2024, 4,676 employees were seen during the Fortnightly Check-ups.
