Surveillance of Chikungunya, Dengue, and Zika in Occitanie. Update as of June 30, 2023.

Key Points

  • From May 1 to November 30 each year, Santé publique France coordinates, in conjunction with the relevant Regional Health Agencies (ARS), enhanced seasonal surveillance of chikungunya, dengue, and Zika in mainland France.

  • In Occitanie, since May 1, 2023, 9 imported cases of dengue have been identified. No cases of chikungunya or Zika have been identified.

  • To limit the risk of local transmission, 28 entomological surveys and 13 vector control treatments were carried out in the vicinity of these cases.

  • Nationally, from May 1 to June 30, 2023, the following were confirmed:

    • 132 imported cases of dengue, 4 imported cases of chikungunya, and 0 imported cases of Zika.

    • The imported dengue cases were mainly from Martinique (34), Guadeloupe (32), Thailand (12), Indonesia (10), and Côte d’Ivoire (9).

  • In the overseas departments, several outbreaks are currently active in French Guiana, Guadeloupe, and Martinique.
