Key Points
Vector-borne diseases: 80 reports of suspected cases of chikungunya or dengue have been received since May 1, 2015. Three imported cases of dengue (contracted during travel to an endemic area) have been confirmed. For this season, no locally acquired cases have been diagnosed to date in the region.
Hospital and medical activity in the region: activity at the SOS Médecins associations in Nîmes and Perpignan was significantly higher during this long weekend, with nearly 1,000 consultations and visits from July 11 to 14. Activity at emergency facilities continues to rise, as it does every year during the summer season, with the proportion of people not usually residing in the region continuing to increase. Emergency medical services (Samu) were also heavily mobilized from July 11 to 14.
