Public Health Surveillance in Languedoc-Roussillon. Epidemiological Update as of December 18, 2014.

Key Points

  • Bronchiolitis: The upward trend continues, with a 30% increase in emergency department visits for bronchiolitis in the region between weeks 49 and 50 of 2014. Current case numbers remain relatively close to those of the past two epidemic seasons, during which the epidemic peak was observed in week 52 or in the first week of the year.

  • Gastroenteritis: although data from the Sentinelles network report incidence rates above the epidemic threshold for weeks 2014-49 and 50 (unconsolidated data), other indicators show no particular trend for this disease in the Languedoc-Roussillon region (emergency departments / SOS Médecins).

  • Influenza: Low influenza activity in the Languedoc-Roussillon region and a very slight increase observed throughout France.

  • Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning: 8 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning have been reported in Languedoc-Roussillon over the past 6 weeks. For more information, see the dedicated fact sheet.
