Public Health Bulletin on HIV and STIs in Occitanie. December 2021.
Key points
HIV/AIDS
The number of HIV serology tests performed per 1,000 inhabitants, as in other regions, was on the rise until 2019. In 2020, it decreased by 12.5% as a result of the COVID-19 crisis and did not reach 2018 levels.
The number of positive test results estimated by the LaboVIH survey decreased by 8%. This decrease can be explained in part by reduced testing activity. It could also be due to lower exposure to HIV linked to social distancing measures, particularly during the first lockdown.
Among those who learned of their HIV-positive status in 2020, 54% are men who have sex with men (MSM), 27% are heterosexuals born abroad, 16% are heterosexuals born in France, 1.7% are people who inject drugs, and 0.6% are transgender individuals.
COREVIH Occitanie active case registry: decrease in the number of patients monitored and treated compared to 2019, likely linked to the COVID-19 crisis.
