Surveillance of Vector-Borne Diseases
Starting May 1, a rapid reporting system for suspected cases of chikungunya and dengue will be implemented in the Gard and Hérault departments, where the Aedes albopictus mosquito is established. You will find case definitions and useful links to the reporting form in the dedicated fact sheet.
Hospital Activity Monitoring
Analysis of SRVA data shows that thresholds were exceeded over the past 7 days across all departments in the region for various indicators. However, the increases in total visits and SAMU cases remained moderate and are likely related to the May 1 holiday weekend.
Monitoring of syndrome clusters
Asthma: the number of cases has been decreasing over the past few weeks.
Gastroenteritis: The estimated incidence rate from the Sentinelles network for the region is rising and slightly exceeds the national epidemic threshold (191 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with a threshold of 166).
Measles monitoring
Since the last update on April 26, 2012, four mandatory reports of measles have been received. For the first time since last year, clusters of cases in schools have been reported in the Pyrénées-Orientales, indicating an increase in measles viral circulation in late April.
