Health Monitoring in the Occitanie Region. Update as of March 31, 2022.

COVID-19

In Occitanie, according to data available as of March 30, 2022, for week 12 of 2022, virological indicators were on the rise compared to the previous week: a positivity rate of 31.5% (versus 28.1% in week 11, an increase of 3.4 percentage points), incidence rate of 1,207 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 827 in week 11, an increase of 46%) and testing rate of 3,828 per 100,000 inhabitants compared to 2,949 in week 11, an increase of 30%. At the regional level, these three indicators were increasing across all age groups except for the positivity rate, which was decreasing among those under 10 years of age. The effective reproduction number (R) estimated from regional SI-DEP data through March 26, 2022, was 1.35 (1.34–1.36), an increase from the previous week (1.25).

At the departmental level, an incidence rate exceeding 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants was estimated for week 12 of 2022 in all departments, with Gard having the highest rate (1,433 cases per 100,000 inhabitants). Incidence and positivity rates were on the rise in all departments compared to the previous week.

Overall, in week 12-2022, virological indicators continued to rise in all departments of Occitanie.

Influenza

The region has been in an epidemic phase for 15 weeks. Following an initial wave in late December followed by a high plateau, indicators have been rising sharply over the past two weeks in all departments. Nationally, recent trends are similar, and the increase continues. The A(H3N2) virus is predominant over A(H1N1)pdm09.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Oscour® network: Gastroenteritis activity was moderate in week 12 of 2022. Weekly case counts for all ages diagnosed with gastroenteritis were decreasing compared to previous weeks. In week 12 of 2022, 520 visits for gastroenteritis were recorded, representing 1.6% of all visits (including 320 for patients under 5 years of age) (versus 596 visits in week 11 of 2022).

  • SOS Médecins network: According to data from the SOS Médecins associations in Nîmes, Montpellier, and Perpignan (SOS Toulouse excluded from the analysis due to missing data since February 16), gastroenteritis activity was low in week 12 of 2022. Procedures for all ages involving a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were down compared to the previous week. In week 12-2022, 131 procedures for this diagnosis were recorded, representing 5.5% (including 33 in children under 5 years of age) of the overall activity of the SOS Médecins associations (154 procedures in week 11-2022).

  • Sentinelles network: the incidence rate of acute diarrhea cases seen in general practice was 69 per 100,000 [34; 104], stable compared to the previous 4 weeks.
