Emergency room visits directly related to alcohol consumption
In 2023, 11,212 emergency room visits directly related to alcohol consumption were recorded, compared to 14,792 in 2017.
The proportion of emergency department visits directly related to alcohol consumption was also decreasing, due to a decline in the number of alcohol-related visits and an increase in emergency department visits for all causes since 2021.
The year 2020, which was atypical due to the COVID-19 pandemic, saw the lowest number of emergency room visits overall.
The departments with the highest rates of emergency room visits directly related to alcohol consumption were Gers and Tarn-et-Garonne, with rates higher than the national average.
