The Impact of the "AZF" Factory Explosion on September 21, 2001, on the Mental Health of Students Aged 11 to 17 in Toulouse.

Among the many buildings damaged by the explosion on September 21, 2001, approximately 100 schools were affected, including five that were completely destroyed and about 30 that required major repairs lasting six months. In the schools located closest to the site, many students were injured, and one high school student died as a result of the explosion. Children and adolescents attending school in the vicinity constitute a population that is particularly vulnerable in two respects: in their school life and their family life. A series of studies was conducted to assess the medium-term material and physical consequences of this industrial disaster on school-age children, as well as the prevalence of psychological disorders, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
