Increase in the number of reported cases in 2023 in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+17% compared to 2022), as in mainland France.
Reported rate remains below the national average, with 5.0 reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the region in 2023 (compared to 7.1 per 100,000 inhabitants in mainland France).
Disparities between departments, with higher reporting rates (>5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) in Haute-Vienne, Gironde, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Deux-Sèvres, and Vienne in 2023.
A particularly marked increase in the reporting rate among 15- to 24-year-olds in 2023.
Continued increase in the reporting rate among people born abroad, particularly among those born in sub-Saharan Africa.
Nearly three-quarters of cases presented with a pulmonary form, as in previous years.
Increase in cases detected through screening in 2023.
Treatment Outcomes
Information on treatment outcomes was available for less than half of the cases reported in the region in 2022, a decrease from the previous year.
Of these cases, 80% had completed treatment, a proportion that remains below the World Health Organization (WHO) target of 90%.
Latent Tuberculosis Infections (LTIs)
The number of reported LTI cases among those under 18 continued to rise in 2023 in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+11% compared to 2022).
About one-third of reported LTI cases resided in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department.
Case characteristics remained unchanged from previous years: the majority were young men aged 15 to 18, born abroad, living in group settings.
