Mortality: The mortality rates recorded by civil registry offices are in line with expected levels for this time of year.
Emergency room visits by vulnerable populations: Emergency room visits by people aged 75 and older and those under 1 year of age remain within expected ranges for this time of year.
Reportable Diseases (MDO)No unusual situations were observed during the month of September.
Chikungunya and dengue: enhanced surveillance Since May 1, when enhanced surveillance began in Lot-et-Garonne and Gironde—where the tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) is established—120 suspected cases have been reported.Among these, 50 cases of chikungunya, 24 cases of dengue, and 2 co-infections have been confirmed, all of which were imported. On August 20, 2014, the first case of locally acquired dengue was identified in the Var department.
Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) According to Oscour®, activity is stable and in line with expectations in Aquitaine and France. A moderate increase in SOS Médecins consultations for AGE among children under 15 has been observed nationwide.
Asthma and Allergies: Stable activity for allergies and an increase for asthma according to SOS Médecins and Oscour® in Aquitaine and France. Note that an increase in emergency care visits for asthma is observed every year during the two weeks following the start of the school year. Forecast: low allergy risk in Aquitaine.
Enterovirus meningitis: The virus has been circulating since week 26 in Aquitaine, according to Oscour® and the virology department at Bordeaux University Hospital.
Mushroom poisoning (indicator not detailed in the body of the document)Since July, in Aquitaine, 17 cases according to CAPTV and 2 according to Oscour® (411 and 175 in France).
