Public Health Surveillance in the Aquitaine Region. Epidemiological Update as of June 10, 2015.

MortalityIn Week 22 of 2015, the mortality rates recorded by the civil registry offices participating in the surveillance program remained, as in previous weeks, within the usual range.

Emergency room visits by at-risk populationsAccording to available data, emergency room activity for people aged 75 and older and those under 1 year of age is in line with expectations.

Chikungunya and dengueSince May 1, when enhanced surveillance began in the Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne departments, which are infested with Aedes albopictus, 19 suspected cases have been reported. Among them, 3 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed.

Reportable Diseases (MDO)No unusual situation this week.

Acute gastroenteritis (AGE) In Aquitaine, as at the national level, activity is low, close to expected seasonal levels.

Asthma and allergies: In Aquitaine, consultations for asthma and allergies remain stable. Forecast for this week: high to very high pollen allergy risk (grass pollen) in the region.

Respiratory virology and enterovirus meningitis: An increase in enterovirus meningitis cases according to the Oscour® network (7 in week 23 of 2015).

ChickenpoxIn Aquitaine, the number of patients seeking care for chickenpox is stable, close to expected levels for this time of year.

Heat-related illnesses: An increase in heat-related illnesses according to the Oscour® network and SOS Médecins, linked to the high temperatures observed in week 23 of 2015. No heat wave is forecast by Météo France as of June 10, 2015.
