New HIV diagnoses primarily affect men aged 25–49 who have sex with men. The number of diagnoses among men who have sex with men born in France is decreasing, while it is increasing among those born abroad.
The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region has a high proportion of HIV infections diagnosed at an early stage (34%) and a lower proportion of diagnoses at a late stage (39%) compared to other metropolitan regions.
