Tuberculosis in Normandy. 2024 Report.
Key Points
Tuberculosis (TB)
In 2024, 167 cases of active TB were reported in Normandy. This number was slightly higher than in 2023 but has remained generally stable since 2020. Normandy is among the regions with the lowest rates of active TB.
The sociodemographic characteristics of cases remained generally stable between 2019 and 2024: the reported cases involved a majority of men, people aged 25 to 59, and people born abroad.
The majority (73%) of cases reported in 2024 presented with pulmonary tuberculosis, and 80% were diagnosed following spontaneous presentation for care.
Treatment Outcomes
In terms of tuberculosis control performance indicators, information on treatment outcomes remains insufficient. Continued efforts are essential to strengthen the evaluation of the tuberculosis care system’s performance.
Treatment completion, at 81%, is close to the treatment success target set by the WHO (85%).
Latent Tuberculosis Infections (LTIs)
The number of reported LTI cases was 181 in 2024, an increase compared to 2023. These cases primarily involved children aged 15–18 and those born abroad.
Screening remained the primary context for LTBI diagnosis (87%).
