Syndromic Surveillance in Normandy. Public Health Bulletin, May 2023.
Key Points
Epidemiological surveillance is based on syndromic clusters composed of various primary and associated diagnoses established by emergency physicians. The completeness and timeliness of primary diagnosis reporting are therefore essential for effective epidemiological analysis. Analysis of this completeness and timeliness has shown:
an increase in the completion of the primary diagnosis field since 2014, reaching 83% in 2022;
a significant share of the Normandy system accounted for by Seine-Maritime (which accounts for 43% of emergency department visits);
a homogenization of the coding rate around 90% for each department except Eure, which tends toward 50%;
good data consolidation, enabling reliable analyses starting on Day 2.
