COVID-19
COVID-19 activity in the community and in hospitals is low in Normandy. No epidemic wave has been observed in the region since the fall of 2024.
In Normandy, the presence of the virus in wastewater has increased in recent weeks, without any impact on clinical activity.
The number of viruses detected in samples by hospital laboratories is also showing a slight upward trend
Chikungunya, dengue, and Zika
Several people residing in the region who had traveled to an endemic area contracted an arbovirus and have been reported as imported cases since the start of enhanced surveillance:
17 cases of dengue imported from Guadeloupe (10), Martinique (5), and French Polynesia (2);
14 imported cases of chikungunya from Réunion.
No locally acquired cases of arbovirus disease have been reported in Normandy since the resumption of enhanced surveillance on May 1, 2025.
Drownings
The epidemiological surveillance system for drownings covers the period from June 1 to September 30, 2025, in mainland France and the overseas territories. Since 2023, it has been implemented every summer and is coordinated by Santé Publique France and the National System for the Observation of Water Safety (Snosan).
In Normandy, the number of drownings was 49 in 2023 and 34 in 2024.
