Health Monitoring in the Normandy Region. Update as of January 29, 2021.
Key Points
COVID-19
In Week 03, several indicators are on the rise compared to the previous week in the Normandy region.
Incidence and positivity rates are rising compared to the previous week.
In hospitals, there has been a significant increase in the number of new hospitalizations, resulting in a rise in the total number of people hospitalized for Covid-19.
The number of new admissions to intensive care is also rising, although the total number of people hospitalized in intensive care for Covid-19 is slightly decreasing.
The effective reproduction number, which reflects the rate of spread, is decreasing but remains above 1.
As of January 24, nine cases carrying the new variant circulating in the United Kingdom have been identified in Normandy. Prevention measures and social distancing remain the primary means of curbing the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and reducing its impact on the healthcare system and mortality rates. The vaccination campaign continues for people over 75, vulnerable individuals, and healthcare workers. As of January 26, 83,108 people had received at least one dose in the Normandy region, representing a vaccination coverage rate of 2.5%.
Bronchiolitis
In Week 3, bronchiolitis activity remains low and below levels seen in previous years. Four new RSV cases were isolated in hospitalized patients by laboratories at Normandy university hospitals. Current respiratory infections are primarily caused by rhinoviruses.
Gastroenteritis
Gastroenteritis activity is on the rise but remains at a lower level than in previous years in Week 3.
