Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Bulletin of September 3, 2025.

Key points

Chikungunya, dengue

  • No local transmission in Île-de-France in 2025, at this stage.

  • 172 imported cases of dengue

  • 166 imported cases of chikungunya

West Nile virus infections

  • Three confirmed cases of locally transmitted West Nile virus infection in humans were detected in Île-de-France in the departments of Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-d’Oise. This marks the first identification of local vector-borne transmission of West Nile virus in Île-de-France (ARS press release: here). In addition, two equine cases testing positive for West Nile virus have been identified in Yvelines

COVID-19

  • The number of emergency room visits increased slightly, while the number of consultations with SOS Médecins for suspected COVID-19 remained stable.

Back-to-school asthma

  • Low activity in emergency departments and at SOS Médecins related to asthma. This trend is linked to the summer vacation period, when the risk of asthma exacerbation is lowest. Long-term treatment for asthma patients is sometimes discontinued during the summer at the initiative of the doctor or the family, with instructions given to parents to resume it before the start of the school year.

Poisoning

  • Several sources report an increase in the Île-de-France region in reported cases of poisoning from the product SNIPER 1000 EC DDVP® (dichlorvos), a liquid insecticide banned in France since 2013 due to its danger to health and the environment. This product, which is available illegally in some stores, is extremely toxic if inhaled or if it comes into contact with the skin, and can be fatal if ingested (organophosphate poisoning and cholinergic syndrome).
