Health Monitoring in the Île-de-France Region. Bulletin of January 2, 2025.

Key points

Bronchiolitis

  • Transition to the post-epidemic phase.

  • Both in hospitals and in the community, indicators were declining. This decrease in bronchiolitis-related activity was part of a downward trend that had been ongoing for several weeks. The peak of the epidemic was reached between weeks 47 and 48.

  • In hospitals, children under one year of age continued to account for the vast majority of hospitalizations for bronchiolitis.

Influenza and Flu-Like Illnesses

  • The number of healthcare visits for influenza-like illness continued to rise in hospitals across all age groups and at SOS Médecins among those over 65. The number of emergency department visits increased by 26% across all age groups and by 62% among those over 65. The number of hospitalizations following a visit to the emergency room also rose, with an increase of 32% across all age groups, 52% among those over 15, and 67% among those over 65.

  • In private practice, the number of procedures decreased by 19% across all age groups but increased by 49% among those over 65.

Acute gastroenteritis

  • Decrease in the number of SOS Médecins calls for acute gastroenteritis (-37%). Indicators in the Sentinelles network were also decreasing.

  • Stabilization in emergency department visits and visits followed by hospitalization across all age groups and among those under 15. The proportion of visits for acute gastroenteritis was similar to the previous two years.

  • Activity levels were low among SOS Médecins associations and moderate in hospital emergency departments.
