On August 6, 2020, Météo-France placed eight departments in the Île-de-France region under an orange alert. Since August 8, 2020, all departments in the Île-de-France region have been under a red alert.
Total healthcare utilization: Increase between August 5, 2020, and August 10, 2020, in SOS Médecins calls and visits to hospital emergency departments for all causes among people aged 75 and older.
Healthcare utilization for the iCanicule composite indicator: Increase between August 6, 2020, and August 10, 2020, in the proportion of SOS Médecins calls for iCanicule among all coded calls (age 75 and older and all ages), of hospitalizations following visits related to iCanicule among coded hospitalizations (age 75 and older and all ages), and of emergency department visits related to iCanicule among coded visits (age 75 and older and all ages).
In addition, the Île-de-France region experienced an episode of ozone pollution (persistent exceedance of the information and recommendation threshold) concurrent with the heat wave. More information on the links between ozone, heat, and health is available on the Santé publique France website.
