COVID-19: Epidemiological Update for the Île-de-France Region as of February 24, 2022
Key Points
In week 07 in Île-de-France, virological and hospital indicators continued to decline, though they remained at high levels compared to previous waves of the epidemic. The public health situation continued to improve, with no signs of a resurgence of the epidemic at this stage.
The crude incidence rate stood at 514 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and declined for the sixth consecutive week, reaching levels last seen in early December 2021.
The testing rate and positivity rate were decreasing for the sixth and fourth consecutive weeks, respectively. The latter, however, remained high at 13.0%.
The Omicron variant is predominant in Île-de-France: more than 99% of interpretable screening test results report mutation profiles consistent with the variant.
SI-VIC data continued to show a decline in new hospitalizations, new ICU admissions, and COVID-19-related hospital deaths.
Vaccination coverage with at least one dose stood at 76.1%, at 75.1% for the full course, and at 52.4% for the booster dose.
Given the high level of viral circulation, vaccinating all eligible individuals remains essential and must be combined with strict adherence to other preventive measures.
