2002 Health and Nutrition Barometer.
Following up on the first national survey conducted in 1996, the second wave of the Health and Nutrition Barometer provides an overview of the French population’s nutritional knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors and describes how they have evolved. Administered via telephone interview, the questionnaire explored respondents’ food consumption over the past twenty-four hours, their eating habits, perceived links between diet and health, food shopping and meal preparation, as well as physical activity and certain health-related lifestyle habits. Analysis of dietary consumption variables enabled the development of a typology of the French population into seven groups. Conducted in 2002 at the outset of the National Nutrition and Health Program (PNNS), the survey also collected data on awareness of dietary consumption guidelines from a preventive health perspective. In addition to the national level, it presents a detailed analysis of the dietary behaviors of people living in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and Languedoc-Roussillon regions, which share some of the highest unemployment rates and levels of economic insecurity in France. The questionnaire used is presented in its entirety. A summary in English of the main results is available at the end of the book.
