Health Surveillance in Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Epidemiological Update, March 6, 2013.

Key Points

Flu: In mainland France, flu activity continues to decline for the second week, following an 11-week epidemic. In the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, according to doctors in the unified network, the incidence of flu-like illnesses has fallen sharply over the past two weeks (636 and 526 cases per 105 inhabitants, respectively, compared to 1,084 cases per 105 inhabitants during the epidemic peak in week 2013-07), remaining above the national epidemic threshold for the 12th consecutive week. SOS Médecins surveillance indicators have also continued to decline for three consecutive weeks, while hospital surveillance (OSCOUR® network) shows a sharp drop (-54%) for the first time this week.

Acute Gastroenteritis: Nationally, the incidence of acute gastroenteritis has been below the epidemic threshold for one month now. However, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, surveillance indicators in emergency departments and SOS Médecins clinics are once again on the rise and above the regional epidemic threshold this week.
