Malaria in French Guiana. Update as of February 29, 2024.

Summary

Following a sharp increase in the number of malaria cases beginning in November 2023 (see Malaria Epidemiological Update of 02/02/2024), malaria activity remained high in January 2024. A downward trend was observed in February, but transmission remained generally high during that month. Since the beginning of the year, infections have occurred primarily in rural areas and along roads in the Littoral region, as well as in suburban areas in the municipalities of Roura
(the villages of Cacao and Favard) and, to a lesser extent, in Matoury outside the town center.
