Dengue
Dengue activity has been low over the past two weeks in the CDPSs, local hospitals, and the emergency departments of the three CHU sites.
Chikungunya
Since the detection of the first confirmed case of chikungunya (S2026-04), 65 cases have been biologically confirmed in French Guiana, including 57 in the Western Coast sector (88%), where 8 outbreaks are currently being monitored. This sector is in the outbreak phase, with the number of cases continuing to rise in this part of the territory, though no major epidemic has been identified. Meanwhile, the Maroni and Savanes sectors have transitioned to the sporadic transmission phase, while Cayenne Island, the Interior, the Eastern Interior, and Oyapock remain in the epidemiological surveillance phase.
Malaria
The number of malaria cases recorded in the territory was low and declining over the past two weeks, with 8 malaria episodes recorded (5 in S11 and 3 in S12) compared to a total of 13 in S09 and S10. These 8 cases were caused by P. vivax, including 4 relapses. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 66% increase in the number of malaria cases compared to the same period in 2025. Most infections occurred in gold mining areas in the Savanes sector. In total, 83 cases of malaria have been recorded since the start of the year, including 43 in January, 26 in February, and 14 in March.
Acute respiratory infections
Activity related to influenza, bronchiolitis, and SARS-CoV-2 was low in French Guiana.
Diarrhea
Diarrhea activity was on the rise, reaching high levels, in community health centers (CDPS) and local hospitals, as well as in the emergency departments of the three University Hospital (CHU) sites.
