Surveillance of Occupational Diseases in the Grand-Est Region: Results for the First Half of 2017

The occupational disease surveillance program (MCP) relies on the voluntary participation of occupational physicians and collaborating physicians in the region, who, with the support of nurses, report all cases of occupational diseases encountered during their consultations with employees twice a year over two consecutive weeks (known as "MCP fortnights"). In 2017, a single two-week period was organized in the Grand Est region, from November 27 to December 10. During these “MCP fortnights,” participating physicians fill out a dashboard with the socio-professional characteristics of all employees seen during visits, regardless of whether they present with an MCP. For each employee presenting with one or more MCPs, a report form is completed. For each MCP report, exposure factors are identified. The status of each MCP relative to the tables of compensable occupational diseases (MPI) is also recorded: the reasons for non-reporting as an MPI are thus documented in the report forms. The monitoring of MCPs relies on the expertise of occupational physicians. Data are collected, analyzed, and published at the regional level through collaboration between the Medical Inspection and the Statistical Studies and Evaluation Service (SESE) of the Regional Directorate for the Economy, Employment, Labor, and Solidarity (DREETS), as well as the ORS Grand Est. Santé publique France participates in data cleaning and validates the publications.
