HIV Public Health Bulletin for the Grand-Est Region. December 2020.
Key Points
Screening, HIV-positive diagnoses
LaboVIH: In 2019, 472,316 HIV serology tests were performed in the Grand Est region, representing 85 tests per 1,000 residents. Of every 1,000 tests performed, approximately 1.1 were positive.
DO HIV:
According to DO data not adjusted for underreporting in 2019, the number of new HIV diagnoses in the Grand Est region is estimated at approximately 248. New cases reported in 2019 were predominantly men (68.5%) and were mainly aged between 25 and 49 (64.5%). Heterosexuals born abroad and men who have sex with men (MSM) are the most affected groups, accounting for 39% and 44% of new cases in 2019, respectively.
At the departmental level, regional disparities are evident, such as in the origin of newly diagnosed cases: most were born in France in the Haut-Rhin and Moselle departments, but more frequently came from sub-Saharan Africa in the Marne department. The Bas-Rhin, meanwhile, has the lowest proportion of people under 25, and the Marne has the highest proportion of women among the departments. The Haut-Rhin has the highest proportion of recent infections in the region.
Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Diagnoses
AIDS: In 2019, 9.6% of newly diagnosed HIV-positive cases were at the AIDS stage, representing approximately 25 patients in the Grand Est region.
Mandatory electronic reporting
Use of e-do: In 2019, 98% of reports were submitted electronically.
