Epidemiological Surveillance in the Lorraine Region. Update as of September 10, 2015.

Key Points

  • A facility in Meurthe-et-Moselle has not reported data since September 6, so the emergency department data for Week 36 is incomplete.

  • In week 36, the number of allergy diagnoses recorded by emergency departments decreased to 95 weekly diagnoses (compared to 139 in week 35), representing less than 1% of total diagnoses. In contrast, activity related to these conditions is increasing for the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association, with 17 weekly diagnoses (compared to 9 diagnoses in week 35). This condition accounts for just over 2% of the association’s activity. However, these fluctuations remain within the usual range.

  • For several weeks now, the weekly number of recorded asthma diagnoses has remained low for both data sources and within the usual range of fluctuations. In week 36, this condition accounted for less than 0.5% of activity in Lorraine’s emergency departments and less than 1% of that at the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association.

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk from ragweed pollen is very low in the four departments of Lorraine.

  • In week 36, the number of heat-related illness diagnoses recorded by the emergency departments in Lorraine and the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association remains low; 24 weekly diagnoses were made by the emergency departments in Lorraine and 3 by the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association. This activity represents less than 0.5% of the activity of these two organizations.

  • According to available data, no unusual increase in mortality has been observed in Lorraine over the past 4 weeks. Since the time lag for reporting death data exceeds 7 days, data for week 36 is currently being consolidated.
