Epidemiological surveillance in the Lorraine region. Update as of May 13, 2015.

Key Highlights

  • In Lorraine, activity at emergency departments and the SOS-Médecins 54 allergy association remains within the fluctuations observed during this period in previous years. Allergy diagnoses account for less than 1% of all diagnoses made by emergency departments in the region and less than 2% of diagnoses made by the SOS-Médecins 54 association.

  • The number of asthma diagnoses recorded by emergency departments and by the SOS-Médecins 54 association remains comparable to the number typically observed. Thus, over the past two weeks, between 50 and 60 weekly diagnoses were recorded in emergency departments (0.5% of total diagnoses) and about ten weekly diagnoses by the SOS-Médecins 54 association (less than 2% of total diagnoses).

  • According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk is moderate in Lorraine for grass pollen

  • Following the increase in gastroenteritis diagnoses observed between weeks 11 and 16, the number of such diagnoses is decreasing. In week 19, 142 diagnoses made by emergency departments accounted for 1.2% of all diagnoses, and 59 diagnoses of gastroenteritis/diarrhea made by SOS Médecins 54 accounted for 6% of all diagnoses.

  • Data from the virology laboratory at Nancy University Hospital indicate a decrease in the number of samples testing positive for enteric viruses. Rotavirus was the most commonly identified virus among positive samples over the past two weeks.
