Epidemiological Surveillance in the Lorraine Region. Update as of June 5, 2014.
Key Findings
According to data from the Nancy University Hospital laboratory, there have been no positive respiratory virus test results for the past two weeks. This confirms the decline in the circulation of respiratory viruses observed in previous weeks.
Activity related to gastroenteritis has returned to the level observed outside the winter season for the SOS Médecins Meurthe-et-Moselle association. However, it remains at an average level for the region’s emergency departments. According to data from the Nancy University Hospital laboratory, rotavirus and norovirus continue to be identified but in lower numbers over the past two weeks.
Regarding allergies, an increase was observed in week 22 based on data from both emergency departments and SOS Médecins 54.
According to data from the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk due to grass pollen remains high in the Lorraine region, as in several other French regions.
Asthma-related activity is also on the rise in week 22, according to the SOS Médecins association. This trend is less pronounced in Lorraine’s emergency departments.
Since the beginning of spring, activity related to conditions potentially caused by heat has remained low in Lorraine.
