Epidemiological Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Update as of June 25, 2015.
Key Findings
Over the past two weeks, the weekly number of allergy diagnoses made by the Alsatian SOS Médecins associations has remained relatively low: in week 25, 40 diagnoses were made by the Strasbourg association, representing just under 3% of the total diagnoses, and 13 by the Mulhouse association, representing 2% of the total diagnoses. The fluctuations observed are comparable to those of previous years during the same period.
Over the past two weeks, asthma-related activity at both SOS Médecins associations has remained low, accounting for less than 2% of each association’s total activity.
According to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA), the allergy risk is moderate for grass pollen in both departments of Alsace.
In week 25, the number of weekly diagnoses of dehydration and heatstroke made by the SOS Médecins associations was very low, accounting for 0.3% of the total diagnoses recorded by each of these associations.
As of June 22, 2015, the measles outbreak continues with 12 additional cases since the previous update (June 10). Its spread remains largely confined to the northern half of the Haut-Rhin department. However, cases residing in the Mulhouse area and in the southern part of the Bas-Rhin have been reported. Vigilance and a reminder of preventive measures must be maintained to prevent the emergence of further outbreaks. The general population of Alsace has so far been only minimally affected. To date, no outbreak linked to this epidemic has emerged in any other French region.
