Epidemiological Surveillance in the Alsace Region. Update as of April 17, 2014.
Highlights
As is the case nationwide, the flu season is coming to an end in Alsace. The 2013–14 season was marked by a mild and short-lived flu outbreak.
This season, the circulating flu viruses were predominantly A(H1N1)pdm09 and A(H3N2) in equal proportions.
Bronchiolitis-related activity is winding down for both SOS Médecins associations in Alsace.
A gradual decline in activity at the SOS Médecins associations related to gastroenteritis is being observed, but enteric viruses continue to be identified in samples sent to the HUS laboratory.
The national aerobiological surveillance network indicates that Alsace has been on alert for the risk of birch pollen allergies for several weeks. These pollens are highly allergenic.
A significant number of allergies have been diagnosed since mid-March (week 12) for both regional associations, and a peak in asthma diagnoses was observed in week 13 for the Strasbourg association and in week 14 for the Mulhouse association.
