Public Health Surveillance in the Centre Region. Epidemiological Update as of January 25, 2013.

  • Influenza: Week 3 of 2013 As of January 22, the incidence rate reported by the Unified Network continues to rise (428 cases per 100,000). The highest incidence rates are in the Champagne-Ardenne, Burgundy, Rhône-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Poitou-Charentes, and Limousin regions. Among samples collected in outpatient settings, 59% are influenza A viruses (23% A(H1N1)pdm09, 18% A(H3N2), 17% untyped A) and 41% are influenza B viruses. No change indicating particular severity of the epidemic.Last week (week 03), in the Centre region, the incidence of influenza-like illness cases seen in general practice was estimated at 312 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, representing high activity.

  • Acute Gastroenteritis (AG): W03-2013 The incidence rate is above the national epidemic threshold in 14 regions, including the Centre region. The regions with the highest incidence rates are: Limousin, Lorraine, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, and Auvergne. The new GII4 norovirus variant (Sydney 2012) is responsible for the majority of clustered AEG cases reported to the CNR for enteric viruses.
