HIV & AIDS (LaboVIH, Surveillance of Notifiable Diseases) – 2018 Data

  • In 2018, in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region, the rate of new HIV diagnoses (2.7 per 1,000 serology tests performed) was the highest in mainland France outside the Île-de-France region. The rate of new HIV diagnoses was estimated at 108 per million inhabitants. More than half of the HIV diagnoses (54.7%) in the region were among people born in sub-Saharan Africa, a proportion that has been steadily increasing since 2013.

  • Approximately one-third (32.1%) of HIV diagnoses were at an advanced stage, and 26.8% at an early stage.

  • The rate of AIDS diagnoses in the region was estimated at 25 cases per million inhabitants, an increase since 2013.

  • The proportion of electronic reporting of HIV and AIDS was 87%

Recent Gonococcal & Syphilis Infections (ResIST) – 2018 Data

  • In 2018, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, 65.3% of reported gonorrhea cases involved gay and bisexual men, a proportion that has been increasing since 2013

  • 76.9% of reported cases of recent syphilis involved gay and bisexual men. The most common reason for seeking care was having had a partner with a sexually transmitted infection (52.2%).

STI Screening (SNDS) – 2018 Data

  • The year 2018 marked a decline in the Centre-Val de Loire region (observed at the national level) in the syphilis screening rate (men and women). This trend will need to be confirmed in the coming years.

  • The proportion of Chlamydia trachomatis testing has been increasing since 2006 (men and women).
